Watch: hilarious parody fitness blog video of retired GAA star Kevin Cummins goes viral

What started as a joke in the Whats App family group led a famous Cork man to go viral.

Kevin Cummins, one of the founders of Cummins Sports and former GAA Cork captain, set the internet on fire today with this hilarious video.

Kevin’s “blog” is a parody of the fitness video of golf instructor Peter O’Keefe, who also happens to be his niece’s husband and Irish Open champion.

Kevin has been a well-known sports figure in Cork for many years, having been captain of the successful county hurling team in Ireland in 1964.

Now, however, the 75-year-old appears to be poised for a new career as an influencer after his blog post went viral today.

The video shows Kevin using a brush and a chair to show his audience how to do a number of “hard” stretches.



Ranging from “easy” to “difficult,” Kevin speaks to his followers through the chunks with hilarious comments.

Kevin spoke to CorkBeo after charging his phone as it had been blown up all day by adoring fans.

“I’m stunned by the reaction, I don’t understand at all! It puzzled me.

“I haven’t had a moment of peace all day! The phone hasn’t stopped and I’m trying to do some work in the warehouse.”

Kevin made the video after coming back from a walk and decided to send it to Peter for some craic.

He did not know that the next day he would have been seen by more than 50,000 people.

“Someone told me that 55,000 people have now seen it but of course I don’t know, I only filmed it last night !.

“I walk a lot but I was telling Peter I was a little stiff in my back and shoulders so he said he would send me a workout video to do.

“So I came back from my walk yesterday and said I would do the exercises he sent me and film them and send it back to him.

“There was no script or rehearsal at all. I just sent it to Peter and two of my friends and it went from there.”

Kevin tried to follow people all over the world who came into contact with him.

“I’ve been getting messages all day from people in Canada, the United States, and Australia. It’s a strange world.”

Kevin said he had no plans to make any other videos, but now that he has a fan base he could try to break America.

“I’m going to discuss it with my team here, my director and my producer and what not, we could do something !.

“The Late Late Show and Hollywood beckon, I think.”

Kevin certainly put a smile on our faces today, so we hope he did for you too.

How a chef in Accra unites African cuisine

Neatly packaged in the box, cubes of dark chocolate painted with edible gold patterns sit comfortably next to spheres of pistachio green truffles. Accra’s cuisine is filled with the earthy smell of cocoa, mixed with that of herbs and spices: hot Ethiopian Berber, aromatic chai, Moroccan mint.

Midunu Chocolates is a one-of-a-kind chocolatier, not only in Accra (the hometown of owner Atadika) but in the world. While all the chocolate made here uses Ghanaian cocoa – and the traditional method of fermenting cocoa beans into plantain and banana leaves, which dates back to the 1870s – the toppings are inspired by all corners of the African continent.

“All the toppings tell a part of African history,” says Atadika, handing a sparkling silver tray of tea and truffles. “If you ask Africans, we probably don’t know much about what our neighboring countries do with food, or how they use our same ingredients in different ways. I felt it was important to do a cross exchange.

These chocolates – which are sold in outlets around Accra and available online – are just one aspect of Atadika’s growing culinary empire. Midunu (which means “come, let’s eat” in the local dialect) also offers private catering as well as its flagship offer: Nomadic Dining. These pop-up dinner clubs are held quarterly at secret locations around the Ghanaian capital and recently took Atadika’s unique fusion cuisine abroad: she hosted a pop-up banquet in Hong Kong in August 2019, and this month. here (February 26-28) is hosting a nomadic dinner at the Design Indaba festival in Cape Town.

Midunu’s supper clubs offer an even more ambitious version of its chocolate philosophy. Each dish is inspired by the cuisine of a different African country and informed by Atadika’s many travels across the continent. Her refined interpretation of African culinary traditions even made her one of the 10 finalists for the Basque Culinary World Prize 2019.

“I was born in Ghana and moved to the United States when I was seven,” she says. “I studied there – geography with environmental studies and then international affairs – before working for the UN in Africa, bringing together children affected by conflict.

It was around this time – experiencing the diverse food cultures on her home continent, which would persist even in the face of conflict – that the aspiring foodie understood the cultural importance of how we eat.

“I’ve worked in Liberia, South Sudan, Angola – and ate really well along the way,” she recalls. “I’ve heard great stories about food and how it can bring people together in weird and sometimes sad ways. But a lot of my colleagues, who were not from Africa, couldn’t see what I could see in the food. When a country is in conflict, you see the skeleton of its cuisine, without all of its complexity and without understanding how it has evolved.

Sometimes Atadika’s interest in the dishes she was experimenting with on the road closed the loop.

“I was in South Sudan once in a roadside grill,” she recalls, smiling. “I ate a beef dish that was really familiar to me. I spoke to the cook and it turned out to be a West African dish from a community that had originally emigrated from there, via Darfur, which they had left because of the conflict. I recognized it because I had eaten it in Ghana. Seeing how people carry food with them on their travels wherever they go, and how that connects us all – it inspired me. “

Atadika returned to the United States in 2010 to study at the Culinary Institute of America. “I gave in to my obsession,” she laughs. “And to give African cuisine the respect it deserves, I needed to acquire a good foundation in culinary techniques and apply them to the African continent. When you know the rules, you can break them.

As of 2014, its nomadic dinners were underway, each featuring a mix of cuisines from across Africa and the Diaspora. After the release of Black Panther in 2018, she hosted a Wakanda-themed event.

“It had to be a meal fit for royalty, so I served goat’s head, which is for special occasions in most African cultures,” she says. “It was served with mass, a sort of pancake made from fermented rice, from northern Nigeria and Ghana. Then, to represent the beautiful seafood of the East African coast, we made a salad of squid, passion fruit and cabbage. North Africa was a beet and sorghum (an African grain) risotto. For dessert, we made poached pear smoked with rooibos tea from South Africa.

Feeding the Ghana of tomorrow

Adventurous diners keen to sample Atadika’s menus should either be in the right place at the right time or in Accra – as the chef has no plans to open a restaurant outside of her native country. Instead, she increasingly works as a food and climate change advocate, making television appearances in Ghana and documenting Africa’s culinary heritage. By celebrating the culinary value of his country and continent and presenting it to diners, Atadika hopes to help address the upcoming food challenges Ghana faces as global warming and the population increase.

“In Ghana, we have to appreciate and understand what we have,” says Atadika. “Jollof (a rice dish made with tomatoes) is our national dish, but if you look at a plate, about 75% of it is rice, coming from China. Then you have chicken, which is probably from Brazil. Onions and tomatoes are probably from Burkina Faso or Mali, or even Holland. How to build an economy on entirely imported food? ”

It might not come as a surprise, then, that there is one dish you will never find on a Midunu menu: rice.

“Last year, we didn’t serve rice once at our dinners, and I explained why to our guests,” says Atadika. “We eat a lot of rice in Ghana, but we need to focus on ingredients that are more suited to climate change. I try to get people excited about grains that are better placed for our future and that grow locally for us, like sorghum and millet.

If anyone can do it, Chief Atadika can do it.

The Good Food Academy of Lithuania recently named the top 30 restaurants in the country and challenged tourists to visit them all in one week. Challenge accepted.

Lithuania may not traditionally be known for its food, but the country is experiencing a food revolution, with young chefs updating old-school methods with produce from their own backyard.

The country’s best restaurants serve everything from fresh food cepelinai (Lithuanian national dish: potato and meat dumplings) to the gastronomic reinventions of the always popular cold beetroot soup, altibarščiai. We asked Linas Petrukaitas, CEO of the Good Food Academy, how to visit the top 30 restaurants during a week-long stay. Read on for his itinerary.

First advice? Loosen your belt …

On Monday

Vilnius

Start in Vilnius at Stebuklai, the former number one on Lithuania’s 30 best list, for the capital’s most popular breakfast. Favorites here include Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros or ricotta cheese pancakes topped with caviar. Much forgiving?

Then take Gediminas Avenue towards the Cathedral and stop at Dine for an octopus lunch with potatoes and homemade duck sausage.

In the evening, everything revolves around the Stikliai, a gourmet restaurant in the sumptuous hotel of the same name, which has welcomed everyone from celebrities to kings. Chef Gerdvilas Žalys has perfected his craft under the guidance of Joël Robuchon and while you can dine a la carte, he really gets creative with the six-course tasting menu. French techniques are applied to Lithuanian ingredients: think smoked trout soup, or venison loin with caramelized onion and juniper seed oil.

End your evening at Sofa de Pancho with late night margaritas and ceviche, quesadilla and guacamole (if you can crack it).

Tuesday

Vilnius

Start your day exploring the Old Town with champagne at Telegrafas Kempinsky. Grab a table by the window to savor a continental breakfast, fresh bread and a glass of champagne, while taking in stunning views of Cathedral Square.

For a well-watered lunch, you can’t beat Saint Germain’s wine list, which offers 25 varieties by the glass. Soak up fine French-inspired dishes (we love lamb chops with fresh figs and olives) before heading to Ertlio namas, where you’ll nibble on appetizers.

Traditional Lithuanian cuisine reigns supreme here: try the venison pâté sprinkled with black salsify, or the pheasant with Jerusalem artichokes. The menu changes every two months, with the chef deliberately eschewing Soviet-era ingredients like pork, beets, and potatoes in favor of flavors that reflect the city’s gastronomic history.

Tonight, dine at the best official restaurant in town. Dziaugsmas has been at the top of the Top 30 Lithuanians list for two consecutive years and for good reason: Chef Martynas is one of the top ranked chefs in the country. The emphasis here is on Lithuanian ingredients sourced from local farmers who are personally known to the chef and built into beautiful, shareable dishes consisting of cod fritters, toast, and prime rib, paired with natural wines.

Wednesday

Day Trip: Vilnius to Trakai

Exit Vilnius to the medieval town of Trakai, 30 minutes away, and start with brunch at Apvalaus Stalo Klubas for the best views of Trakai Island Castle in the middle of the lake. The dishes here offer a fresh take on Lithuanian classics: a version stuffed with venison cepelinai (potato dumplings), Lithuanian national dish, or local baked cheese with caraway seeds, pumpkin gratin and potatoes.

After a few hours of exploring the city, grab a late lunch at La Esperanza – a classic French dining room inspired by herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Make way for dessert, which is best enjoyed on the open-air terrace, surrounded by pine trees. Then it’s time to head back to Vilnius, where you can taste European dishes with a taste of India at Gaspar. Chef Gaspar Fernandes’ culinary creations are inspired by recipes handed down from generation to generation in his family, such as his mother’s curry with chicken or giant shrimp, full of exotic Indian spices. Don’t overeat, as you’ll make an overnight stop at zero waste restaurant Amandus for a Scandinavian-inspired tasting dinner, prepared by up-and-coming chef Deivydas Praspaliauskas.

Can you face a final stop? End the night at SOMM, considered to be Lithuania’s best wine bar, with some of the country’s most knowledgeable sommeliers. The local terroir and tradition create notes that are not often found in southern European wines. Wild berries and apples create strong Nordic flavors, like Voruta brand rosé, which is made with strawberries.

Thursday

Vilnius

After all that wine, you’ll want to sleep. Start the day with a lazy cappuccino at Da Antonio, one of Vilnius’ oldest restaurants and the only a la carte Italian restaurant to make the top 30. It’s easy to see why. Chef Dmitrij Babenko combines imported Italian specialties with local produce to create innovative mashups, like burrata with shrimp ceviche and guacamole.

At lunchtime, it’s time to taste the best beef in Vilnius. Choose between Meat or Böff, both within walking distance of the Old Town. The aptly named Meat specializes in dry-aged Lithuanian beef and boasts the largest meat cooler in the Baltics, with all beef ripened for at least 28 days. Böff buys his USDA certified beef from Creekstone Farm in Omaha. Their bulls are fed a grain-based diet for at least the last 120 days (which might explain why filet mignon tastes so Well).

After walking through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, head to Sweet Root, where the menu features Lithuanian seasonal produce dictated by local nature and weather conditions. Think juicy tomatoes, hot pink beets and crispy cucumber in the summer, porcini mushrooms and earthy potatoes in the fall and winter.

For late-night snacks and drinks, Selfish offers some of the most affordable fish and seafood in town. Try the popular tuna tataki – a lightly seared fish with a citrus sauce – or Thai-style mussels in coconut broth. If you can take it, head to Vilnius Street and Islandijos Street to enjoy the nightlife.

Friday

Roadtrip: from Vilnius to Kaunas

On the way to the coast, stop at Kaunas, Lithuania’s second largest city and another culinary hotspot.

Dia comes highly recommended for lunch, where a global menu includes Italian truffle dumplings and Thai red duck curry. Or head to Momo Grill, in a historic building by the river. Despite the name, you won’t find Tibetan dumplings on the menu here. Instead, you get legendary charcoal-grilled meats, including homemade Lithuanian sausages or Brazilian beef tenderloin.

For dinner, head to the Experimental Uoksas, where the seasonal tasting menu features Baltic produce such as beets, porcini mushrooms, and potatoes. In 2019, Chef Artūras Naidenko started preparing meat using koji mushroom spores, and the restaurant also serves homemade fermented soft drinks.

Otherwise, go for Nüman – a restaurant that prides itself on its ever-changing menu. The chef’s constant search for new products, suppliers and techniques means that he never repeats a dish on the menu. Delights of the past included mackerel with dried dill ice cream and locally sourced whole duck for two, expertly carved at your table.

Saturday

Roadtrip: Kaunas – Šiauliai – Palanga

The bustling resort town of Palanga is always packed, so be sure to book a table (and room) for your night out at Vila Komoda well in advance.

It’s a four hour drive, so stop for lunch at Avenue Brasserie in Šiauliai. It is the first restaurant in the city to be included in the list of the 30 best in Lithuania. Enjoy duck breast with pear purée and chicory or try braised octopus with potatoes and cauliflower.

Then, direction Palanga. The chef of Restaurant Palanga offers a French menu with absolute precision – the duck soup with porcini mushrooms is a hit, while diners have described the tirimasu as “legendary”. Some regulars have returned after more than a decade for just another taste.

At nightfall, installation in the restaurant of Vila Komoda. Chef Martyn Meid’s experimental style and obsession with natural flavors make the tasting menu a sensory overload. Make sure to try the homemade rye bread, which is handmade from a century-old recipe. Then soak up your bed in the upstairs rooms of the historic building, once the residence of Lithuanian nobility.

Sunday

Roadtrip: Palanga – Klaipeda – Šturmai – Pazaislis

It’s not a Sunday without brunch, and the family-run Monai is your best choice in Klaipeda. Whet your appetite as you stroll through the charming old town, with its cobbled streets and quaint half-timbered buildings, before savoring the constantly changing home-made menu. Linger over a tuna tartare and a environment (mead) aperitif, a sweet honey liqueur dating back to the 11e century.

Drive to Šturmai for an early dinner at Šturmų švyturys. Owners Česlovas and Asta Žemaitis have created a magical space on the shores of the Curonian Lagoon where you can lazily watch the fishing boats stream into the harbor, or dine on the cozy terrace as the sun sets over the Coronian Spire , a sand dune peninsula that stretches as far as Russia.

Select your own fish from the ice cream counter – the choice varies depending on the season and what was brought from the boats that day, but often includes pike or perch – which is then baked in a wood-fired oven. This is a great opportunity to discover what is caught locally, as well as the products fodder in the surrounding forests: porcini mushrooms, nettles and beets.

The return trip to Vilnius takes around four hours, so it would be rude not to stop at Monte Pacis for refreshments and the chance to see the Baroque architecture of the Pazaislis Monastery. Too drunk to continue? Spend the night here before returning to the capital.

TCA 2019 Travel Blog # 5 – Charming Jim Carrey and Wonder Woman Becomes Hedy Lamarr | Culture & Leisure

When one of the first people you see in the morning is Jim Carrey, you’re probably going to have a great day. This is probably why Showtime kicked off its TCA day with the comedy “Kidding”.

Carrey is one of those people who can captivate a room, which is exactly what he did with a bunch of reviews. He riffed, took tangents and charmed everyone. He’s also the only person I can think of who could say, “F no, I don’t want to be here” and make a whole room laugh. But more on “Kidding” in a moment.

Aside from Jim Carrey’s comedy, Showtime has done presentations for “The L Word: Generation Q” and a management panel that featured a host of announcements. Here are the highlights from this morning.

“Joke”

Showrunner / writer / producer Dave Holstein and actors Catherine Keener, Judy Greer and Jim Carrey were on the panel for “Kidding.” It was one of the most interesting panels I have ever attended.

Carrey, as you might expect, was everywhere but also, somewhat ironically, laser focused. Whatever the subject, and he was asked a myriad of questions, he was able to give a quick and thoughtful answer. His answers were sometimes philosophical, often humorous and sometimes totally random.

Carrey was asked if he was still angry that he didn’t get an Oscar nomination for “The Truman Show” (he was never angry), his thoughts on fans influencing the work of the artists. artists (“Sometimes people just want something to want it.”) and what Ariana Grande looked like (“She’s got something she does, it’s like magic.”). And then he was also throwing random jokes with lots of curses that made the whole room laugh. Unfortunately, I cannot share any of these here.

As you might expect, Carrey was the center of criticism and rightly so, but I also felt that this group of people were very close even though one person was carrying the sign. I’ve been to so many of these panels where everyone says “I loved the script” or “these people are my family” and at some point it becomes mundane. No one on the “The Kidding” panel said such a thing, but the way they interacted with each other made it clear how tight they were.

To illustrate this, an exchange between Keener and Greer. Carrey, seated between them, was leaning forward and when Keener said to Greer, “I love you” and Greer replied “I love you back.” It was a brief moment that I’m sure not many people noticed (I’m sitting in the second row) but something made me smile.

The second season of “Kidding” premieres November 3.

“The L word: generation Q”

This new series continues to follow the intertwined lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) and Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig), as well as new characters Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi) as they experience love, grief, sex, setbacks and success in LA The series is currently in production for eight episodes at Los Angeles. It comes out on December 8.

The showrunners and producers are looking to examine what has changed in the LGBTQ community now compared to 10 years ago when the show first premiered. However, it will also take a look at what has not changed. With half the cast made up of original actors and the other half made up of new, younger actors representing the next generation, this series should have plenty of relevant storylines to choose from.

Showtime started off a little lightly, making a joke about a new streaming service called Showtime Maxi +, a clear dig at HBO Max. This was followed by some opening statements and statistics from the leaders of the network.

Showtime has 27 million subscribers, including two million in the past 12 months. They have three of the top seven drama series on cable, and the network is looking to expand that original content by 30%. This includes both scripted and unscripted series.

Some other announcements from leaders:

– “City on Hill” has been renewed for a second season.

– A new reality TV series called “Couple Therapy” will be launched on September 6

– An hour-long comedy with Lena Headey titled “Rita” begins filming this fall.

“Rust,” starring Jeff Daniels, begins filming in the first half of next year.

– Gal Gadot will star in a series based on the life of Hedy Lamarr.

– Natasha McElhone will play both Halsey and Cortana in “Halo,” which premieres in 2021.

– The final season of “Homeland” premieres February 9th.

– David Diggs will play Frederick Douglass in Ethan Hawke’s limited series “The Good Lord Bird”.

As you can see, Showtime has a lot going on.
