Blog: A New Beginning (1/11/22)
BY PASTOR GWEN DRESSEL – CHRISTIAN FAMILY WORSHIP CENTER
A new Year. A new start. What does 2022 have in store for us?
More specifically, what does it have in store for you?
We have experienced lockdowns, school closures and church closures. Our church was open every Sunday and will continue to be. We have experienced many setbacks and failures throughout our lives. Sometimes we get to the point where we never enjoy the full Christian life that God has given us to live.
I know when my son had a heart attack and had to have double bypass surgery, it was a tough time for the family. But God — we knew that God would make a way where there seemed to be no way out. DeNaldo is back at work, but found he has to adapt in different ways. Doctors told him it could take up to a year to regain his strength.
John 10:10 says, “I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly. »
2 Corinthians 5:17: “So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; all things have become new.
The good news is that God wants to do something new in your life. He wants to give you a fresh start – a fresh start.
First, you must repent of your sins and invite Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
Join a Bible-believing church so you have other Christians to mentor you in your new walk with God.
At the start of a new year, it is customary for us to think of new beginnings – a time for new resolutions – but the truth is that with God, any moment is a time for a new beginning.
When I was very young, I made New Year’s resolutions that were soon to be broken. I found that the best resolution was to submit daily to God and be the best person I could be. God will direct your paths as you follow Him.
Some things God does for us: He doesn’t look at our past.
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow never comes: we only have today. So walk in his presence. He can do in your life what He has never done before. His mercies are new every morning.
He does not hold your sin against you. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive them and cleanse us from iniquity.”
Isn’t it wonderful? That burden you have been carrying for years or days — let go and let God take that burden and ask Him to forgive you. You will be whitened as snow by the blood of Jesus.
God is a creator. He does new things. He’s not in the box that we’re trying to put Him in.
Have you ever tried to be God’s little helper, whining and crying, saying, “God, I think we should do it my way,” then falling on your stomach? But God, he takes us and as we finally listen to him, he shows us the right path – his own.
New beginnings come to those who walk in faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.”
So with every new day that the Lord has given you, with every new beginning, step out into God and let God direct your paths.
My prayer for each of you in the year 2022 is to keep walking with God, and He will open new doors and opportunities for you. Remember, every day is a new beginning with God. He is Alpha and Omega.
