LAKELAND, Florida (May 19, 2022) | Lake Crago Outdoor Recreation Complex was recently named an Outstanding Partner by the Florida Youth Conservation Center Network (FYCCN). FYCCN is a program administered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission designed to inspire young Floridians to participate in outdoor activities. The FYCCN program is dedicated to getting children and families outside and helping them understand the importance of the state’s incredible natural resources. FYCCN educates and empowers Florida youth with outdoor know-how and the latest conservation concepts.

The Crago Lake Outdoor Recreation Complex is a multi-use facility that offers indoor and outdoor recreational activities including fishing and quick access to Crago Lake. The complex includes a public dock, covered outdoor patio, educational amphitheater, kayak/canoe boat launch, boat launch, rental spaces, dog park and rental of kayaks. Future developments include a championship golf course, multi-purpose sports fields, baseball diamonds and walking paths.

Bob Donahay, Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, said, “The Department of Parks and Recreation team appreciated the opportunity to work with FYCCN to encourage programming that showcases the outdoors and our local natural resources. Through this partnership, Lake Crago staff have participated in Basic Instructor Training courses so they can now teach FYCCN-approved fishing courses. Additionally, several of our Lake Crago staff are now certified by the American Canoe Association as Level Two Kayak Travel Leaders.

Crago Lake Outdoor Recreation Complex is a great place to experience the outdoors with an outdoor classroom for school trips, outdoor activities and wildlife viewing.
