Shanghai Disney will partially reopen on June 16, 2022
Restrictions are eased again in China and we learn that Shanghai Disney will partially reopen to visitors on June 16, 2022.
At present, the resort’s theme park, Shanghai Disneyland, and the resort’s Toy Story Hotel will remain temporarily closed until further notice.
What is opening is Disneytown, the shopping, dining and entertainment district, and the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

Disneytown
The reopening of Disneytown will provide guests with the perfect destination to experience Disney with the fresh air of the outdoors, allowing them to reunite with family and friends.
During the initial reopening phase, each site will operate with limited capacity and select offers and services.
Upon reopening, many Disneytown shopping, dining and entertainment experiences will be available to guests.
They will, however, operate with limited capacities in accordance with government guidelines as well as with reduced opening hours.
Participating restaurants will offer adjusted menus that include “take-out” items, instead of table service or made-to-order items.

Wishing Star Park, the World of Disney Store and Blue Sky Boulevard resumed operations on June 10.
The Disneytown parking lot will also resume operations on June 16.

Shanghai Disneyland Hotel
Reservations for the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel can be made now through the Shanghai Disney Resort Official Website and App, as well as through Weixin/WeChat Account, Resort Reservation Center, and Resort Official Travel Partner Channels.
All room types at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will be available for booking, subject to availability.

Most of the hotel’s dining experiences, including Lumière’s Kitchen and Aurora, will reopen at the same time.
Hotel restaurants will be available for hotel guests only, subject to pandemic measures and advance booking
Certain hotel facilities, such as the King Triton Pool and on-site fitness center, will remain temporarily closed until further notice.

From June 14 to July 12, 2022, Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass holders will be able to enjoy a discounted rate for a Deluxe Garden View Room for stays from June 16 to July 13, 2022.
During this reopening period, Shanghai Disney Resort will continue its enhanced health and safety measures in accordance with the latest government regulations and guidelines.

The pandemic shutdown
China has a zero-tolerance policy for COVID, which has caused Shanghai Disney to shut down several times over the past few years.
The station first closed for the pandemic on January 26, 2020 and reopened on May 11 of the same year.
However, a scare of Halloween 2021, along with rising COVID rates in China, led to Shanghai Disney closing on March 21, 2022, and it has remained closed until now.

Sixth anniversary
Shanghai Disney opened to the public on June 16, 2016, meaning this partial reopening falls on the sixth anniversary of its original opening.
But don’t think Disney is just going to pass it up. The celebration will simply be postponed until everything is completely open.
When we hear of new openings, especially Shanghai Disneyland, we’ll let you know. Good to see that all stations will be open again, but it will be even better when Shanghai is fully open.
