Family and friends will gather on Friday (September 23) to remember Sandra L. Dahl. Here is the memory they share with their community:

Sandra Lee Dahl was born on April 30, 1937 and lived her entire life in West Seattle. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1955 and enrolled at the University of Washington without any clarity regarding a career path. After the prayer, she felt inspired to become a teacher. She struggled and hated every minute of her studies, but, after graduating from college in 1959, she immediately felt at home the moment she walked into her first classroom.

Sandra taught with love for 39 years in Seattle Public Schools, first at Frank B. Cooper Elementary School, then at Lowell Elementary School and finally at Lafayette Elementary School. Its classes included disabled, disadvantaged, and English-speaking students long before integration into public schools was common. Third year was his favorite.

Sandra’s teaching also extended to her church life. An active member of the West Side Presbyterian Church, she has spent decades teaching adult Sunday School classes and home Bible studies for women. When she retired, she looked after 2-year-olds in nursery at mothers of preschoolers meetings and even took the time to prepare simple lessons for the toddlers she would watch.

Sandra was a faithful and gracious steward of what she received. She generously offered her gifts and talents. An accomplished organist, she has led worship for countless Sunday services, weddings, funerals, choir rehearsals, and for vacation Bible school children each summer. She was also an accomplished hostess, opening her home to friends and family, sabbatical missionaries, baby showers and weddings, and elaborate choirs and holiday parties.

Sandra never married and never had children, but she devoted her heart to hundreds of children throughout her life, be it her students, the children of the church, the small family and friends or sponsored children whose photos she kept. on the fridge.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents Roger and Mattie Dahl and her sister Sharon Bishop. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Sandra then received her heavenly reward on August 27, 2022 at age 85. Her gentle nature and single-minded spirit served to magnify the Lord in all that she did. She left a better world for being here.
